Seattle is a city with beautiful harbor and bay, full of islands, and surrounded with snow capped mountains. Seattle is a seaport city on the west coast of the United States of America. The city is situated on the isthmus between Pudget sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. Famous for its addiction to caffeine (over 100 Starbucks coffee shops here and Starbucks was founded in this city), and this city is the birthplace to bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Seattle has a very friendly and relaxed vibe, great bars, robust music scene, world class sea foods and lots of nature surrounding. Seattle is incredible during the few months of warm weather. Seattle is also known as gateway to Alaska. The Seattle area developed into a technology center from the 1980s onwards with companies like Microsoft established in the region; Microsoft founder Bill Gates is a Seattleite by birth. Internet retailer Amazon was founded in Seattle in 1994, and major airline Alaska Airlines was founded in SeaTac, Washington, serving Seattle's international airport, Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. The topography of Seattle is hilly. The city lies on several hills, including Capitol Hill, First Hill, West Seattle, Beacon Hill, Magnolia, Denny Hill, and Queen Anne.
