Image
Bishnupur (in Bankura District of West Bengal)  with some of the finest specimen of Bengal architecture - is easily accessible by road and train from Kolkata. Bishnupur was a kingdom of Mallya dynasty. Mallya Raj Jagamallya established this Bishnupur kingdom. He first set up the Mrinmayee Devi Temple in 997 AD. Mallya Raj Birhambir was influential king and he took Baishnav religion to Bishnupur and established Rashmancha in 1600 AD.            Rashmancha is the oldest brick temple. Jor Bangla temple is another important temple in Bishnupur which portrays the traditional design of double roof terracotta architecture. The terracotta art engraved on the wall of Jor Bangla temple relates to ancient mythology. This temple was built by Mallya king Raghu Nath Singh in 1655 AD.  Radhashyam temple was built by Mallya king Chaitanya Singh in 1758 AD. The architecture is magnificent here.  This temple has a nahavat Khana at the entrance of the temple. Radha Lalijiu temple is

Beijing

For the first time my paper got selected for an internatinal conference in Beijing. I was extremely excited as well as nervous about the whole experience....I had never been to a different country, let alone going all by myself. Nonetheless I was eagerly looking forward to this. Due to the short time span of my tour I couldn't visit anywhere other than Beijing and visiting new places from my halt at Kunming airport was also not possible.  Since ancient times, China has been known as the “Celestial Empire.” This refers not only to China’s strength and position as East Asia’s Middle Kingdom, it also captures a more profound meaning, describing a land where the divine and mortal once coexisted. It refers to the belief that the divine, through various dynasties, transmitted a rich and abundant culture to the Chinese people. Chinese culture is thus known as “divinely inspired,” and is the only culture in the world to have a continuous recorded history of 5,000 years. It has lef

We some friends from Kharagpur visited Gopalpur, on sea and Rambla in January 2017. We want to spend a couple of days relaxing in nature. We traveled by train from Kharagpur to Brahmapur, Odisha and from there we took an autorickshaw to reach Gopalpur. Our accomodation was previously booked at OTDC, Panthanivas Gopalpur. The facilities served is very good and the food is also tasty.  Beach is only 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from Panthnivas. Gopalpur sea beach is one of the best beaches in the eastern coastline. The remoteness, peace, offbeat crowd, sparkling gold sand, azure water of the bay of Bengal, the delicious sea foods provide a perfect place to immerse yourself in nature. From Gopalpur, we went to Rambha, an offbeat destination on Chilka lake. The only accommodation there is the Rambha OTDC Panthanivas. The Chilka lake is just in front of the cottage and the view is stunning but one thing to inform is that this Panthnivas is very ill-maintained. It should be mainta
